HOW TO HAVE A STRANDS OF HOPE PARTY

Pick a date and invite your friends (sample invitation). Each guest will need space to sit at a table.

Explain the mission of Strands of Hope (see materials) and that each participant will make a necklace to give to another person she wishes to honor or support, or she can keep the necklace for herself.

Mention that no beading experience is needed.

Take orders for the color kits you will need. Place your orders online at www.strandsofhope.com

Allow at least two weeks for shipment to arrive.

Supplies you will need: fingernail clippers, tape, cloth to work on, needle-nosed pliers (available to order for $5.00)

Read the “Step-by-Step Directions for Making Your Strands of Hope® Necklace.” We suggest you make your own necklace ahead of time to display as a finished sample so you are free to help others as they work.

THE EVENT!

  • It is nice to start out with a bit of social time while guests are arriving. You may want to provide beverages and some simple snacks.
  • After everyone is there, explain the mission and concept of Strands of Hope.
  • Distribute kits already ordered by guests or let them select a kit they would like.
  • Suggest that participants read through the materials in their kits before they start their necklaces.
  • Part way through, remind participants to include the random bead.
  • It will take participants varying amounts of time to finish their necklaces; when finished, they can help others or you might start a discussion from the “Conversation & Reflection Suggestions.”
  • When all are finished, it is nice to take a moment to look at each necklace. Suggestion: hold the necklaces and think about the energies you hope to pass on when you give it to another. You may have your own ideas for ways to “bless” the necklaces before sending them off.
  • Place the necklace in the bag the kit came in and sign your name on the cream-colored gift card. Participants can keep the mission card and the reflection suggestions card.
  • Please make sure that guests realize that they can also have a similar event and invite their own friends!
